If there were a biography about you, what would the title be?
S. K. Earl
Well, the first thought that comes to mind are the lyrics of a song…
“Lost and alone on some forgotten highway, traveled by many… remembered by few.”
Now, this is a bit long for a title, but it suits me. These lyrics were written by John Denver, one of my favorite singer/songwriters growing up. He often wrote songs that gave you pause to think… think about your own life, think about your goals, your dreams, your wants and needs.
Often in my life, I’ve had that feeling of being lost and alone… it depends on where you are “at” in life to understand that alone doesn’t always mean lonely. Sometimes, being lost and alone brings out one’s inner creativity. It allows you to look deeper into yourself, use your imagination, reflect on lost loves and dreams. Also, in being alone, one can come to realize that there are many different roads to travel that may lead one to discover joy, many precious moments to celebrate life, and many moments just to take time to breathe.
I have always been a dreamer. I love writing and storytelling. However, at times, the world and all the busy-ness it brings can steal away those dreams and stifle creativity. That’s why, somedays, I just have to go out and find myself “lost and alone on some forgotten highway, traveled by many… remembered by few.”

Life is funny. We spend years trying to be noticed, yet some of the best moments happen when no one is looking. Maybe biographies should be titled like weather reports—Mostly Cloudy with Occasional Sunshine.
Aloneness is an underrated superpower. Birds fly solo to find new lands. Stars shine brightest in empty skies. Even a sandwich tastes better when you don’t have to share.
Your post reminds me that being “remembered by few” isn’t a failure—it’s just a sign you traveled your own road. And honestly, forgotten highways probably have the best scenery.
I love your selection of biography titles! And you are right, being remembered by few is not a failure. Traveling your own road, discovering your own joys and happiness, and finding joy in the moment are the best! Thank you for your inciteful comment!
Very insightful response
I guess we are all alone sometime in our lives
Some feel it more keenly than others
Some people cannot be without company for even a moment experiencing separation anxiety etc
But they miss out on the depth and inner growth – the stuff for biography!
I agree. Being able to happily spend time alone and experience life is awesome. It is important, even essential, to spend time with others; however, being able to spend time alone just reflecting and being in the moment opens one to a deeper understanding of who you are… and… It’s kind of hard to explain further, but I think you understand.
